Sri Lanka apparel industry to implement single QR code system
It will hold information on the tracking and tracing of the entire supply chain.
Sri Lanka's apparel industry has introduced a singular QR code system label in a bid to enhance end-to-end supply chain visibility and traceability within the industry.
The initiative, a collaborative effort involving manufacturers, the Asian Development Bank, the International Financial Reporting Standards, and the Global Language of Business, consolidates information on brands, supply chains, product specifications, materials, care instructions, compliance details, and recycling guidelines into a unified QR code.
“The apparel industry in Sri Lanka is responding with a resounding ‘Yes’ to the call for complete supply chain traceability with the Global North putting its foot down on sustainability legislation,” the GlobalData report said.
“It comes from the mounting pressure to align with the legal frameworks of major export destinations including the US, EU and the UK,” it added.
