Global semiconductor sales rise 18.7% YoY in July
China and Asia Pacific sales also surged.
Global semiconductor industry sales reached $51.3b in July 2024, an 18.7% increase from July 2023's $43b, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) reported.
The figure is also 2.7% higher than June's total of $50b.
The SIA represents 99% of the US semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-US chip firms.
The World Semiconductor Trade Statistics organisation compiles the monthly sales figures.
John Neuffer, SIA president and CEO, said that the global semiconductor market saw significant year-over-year growth in July, while month-to-month sales also increased for the fourth consecutive month.
Particularly strong growth was observed in the Americas, with a 40.1% year-over-year sales increase.
Regionally, year-over-year sales increased in the Americas (40.1%), China (19.5%), and Asia Pacific/All Other (16.7%), but declined in Japan (-0.8%) and Europe (-12.0%).
Month-to-month sales in May increased in the Americas (4.3%), Asia Pacific/All Other (3.9%), Japan (3.3%), and China (0.9%), but decreased in Europe (-0.5%).
