HKB is now accepting nominations for Made in Hong Kong & Designed in Hong Kong Awards 2021
Firms can submit their entries until 29 October 2021.
With the restrictions and social distancing protocols brought upon by the pandemic, Hong Kong companies are starting to focus more on innovation and goods production. Leveraging technology and digital transformation, the manufacturing industry in Hong Kong is slowly but surely taking back its place as one of the top contributors to the city-state’s GDP.
To recognise these companies’ innovative projects and strategies, Hong Kong Business is officially accepting nominations for the Made in Hong Kong Awards and Designed in Hong Kong Awards. The awards programme is open to all Hong Kong-registered local and international manufacturing firms that produce game-changing business-to-consumer and business-to-business products.
The Made in Hong Kong Awards, whose past winners include The Dairy Farm, New World Development, and Tricor Services Limited, is an initiative hailing innovative products across industries that are manufactured in Hong Kong.
The Designed in Hong Kong Awards laud products that are conceptualised by a Hong Kong-based office but manufactured outside the territory. Past winners include Epic Designers Limited, TAL Apparel Limited, Tungtex (Holdings) Company Limited, and Concord Medical Limited.
"We're very honoured. It's a great privilege. This award is not really for me, but for our company and this very smart think tank that we have, which enables me to get to the front and get these awards. It's a year of the pandemic and for us to be able to turn the situation around during a tough year, and then get this award means a lot to us so we're extremely grateful for it,” said Ranjan Mahtani, Group Chairman of Epic Designers Limited.
The company won the Apparel category in the HKB Designed in Hong Kong Awards for their commitment to design excellence and sustainability.
To be eligible for the awards, the product has to be manufactured or designed by a Hong Kong-registered company and should have been publicly released within the last 24 calendar months. Products that are launched prior to the said period can still be nominated as long as they have undergone recent improvements.
Manufacturing firms can choose from over 50 industry categories including apparel, architecture, building, computer hardware, electronics, energy and power, food, healthcare, hospitality, luxury, medical, pharmaceuticals, residential building, telecommunications, and transportation amongst others.
A panel of elite industry experts will judge the products based on branding, unique selling points, product effectivity, and customer satisfaction.
The nomination period is open until 29 October 2021. Winners will be honoured at the digital awards presentation in November 2021.
